Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

Kaado is made by RawLabs, Inc. (“we”). This policy covers the Kaado iPhone app, the Kaado Chrome extension and this website. Questions: alex@rentahuman.ai.

In short
  • Your learning lives on your device. An account is optional; it syncs word and kana progress between devices.
  • The Chrome extension changes words inside your browser. We never receive the text of your feeds or your browsing history.
  • Apple or Stripe takes payments. We never see your card number.
  • Screen Time choices stay on your iPhone and are never uploaded.
  • The leaderboard is opt-in and shows only a trainer name picked from our word list, your creature and your score.
  • No ads, no third-party analytics, and we don’t sell your data.

1. What stays on your device

These are stored only on your device. We don’t receive them.

  • iPhone app: your word and kana progress (until you sign in to sync it), the answers you give when making your learning plan (such as goals, level, daily minutes, how much you scroll and an optional first name), your creature game save (your Kaado buddy, the name you give it, Kaado balls, collection and scores), decks you import, display, sound and music settings, and Screen Time settings. Your sign-in session is kept in the iPhone’s secure storage.
  • Chrome extension: your word and kana progress, your settings, a random installation ID and, if you connect an account, your sign-in session, kept in Chrome’s extension storage. Removing the extension deletes them.
  • Feed text: the extension reads the page you are viewing on X, LinkedIn or YouTube Shorts only to swap words for Japanese inside your browser. Page text and browsing history are never sent to us.

2. Your account and sync (optional)

You can use Kaado without an account. If you create one, we use Supabase to run it and we store:

  • Sign-in details: your email address. If you choose a password, it goes to Supabase’s sign-in service, not to our API. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google where offered, we receive the email address (which may be an Apple private relay address) and any name that provider shares.
  • Synced progress: for each word or kana symbol you’ve met, its ID, learning stage, review interval and due date, how often you’ve seen it and got it right, your streak on it and when you last reviewed it, plus daily review totals. A sync log records an ID for each change, a random device ID, the kind of change and when it happened. Display and other settings are not synced.
  • Chrome subscription link: if you connect a Chrome subscription to your account, the random installation ID it was bought with.
  • Phone linking: when you link your phone from Chrome, a one-time code that expires after five minutes. We store only one-way hashes of it.

Sign-in codes are sent by email from our sign-in provider. Your creature save, learning plan, imported decks and Screen Time data are not part of sync.

3. Leaderboard, invites and friend challenges

  • Leaderboard (opt-in, needs an account): when you join, we store your trainer name, your Kaado buddy’s species and evolution stage, and today’s score, wins and right answers. Trainer names are always two words from our fixed list (like “Brave Mochi”); you can’t type one, and the name you give your Kaado buddy is never sent. Other signed-in players can see the top of each day’s board. Leaving the board deletes your scores.
  • Invites (needs an account): we create an invite code for your account and record which account joined with it. You see how many friends joined, not who. Invites carry no reward.
  • Friend challenges: a challenge link carries your trainer name, your Kaado buddy’s species and stage, the cards and your score. Anyone you send it to can read it. Our server checks the link’s format when it’s opened in a browser but doesn’t store it.

4. Payments

  • iPhone: Apple processes purchases. Our subscription service, RevenueCat, receives your App Store purchase information and an app user ID (your Kaado account ID if you’re signed in, otherwise an anonymous ID) so the app knows whether your subscription is active. Android builds use Google Play the same way.
  • Chrome: Stripe Checkout processes payment and keeps your billing details, such as your email and card, under Stripe’s own privacy policy. We store nothing about your card. We look up your subscription’s status with your random installation ID. If you ask to recover a web subscription, we look for an active subscription matching your verified account email.

5. Screen Time (iPhone, optional)

If you turn on app blocking, Kaado uses Apple’s Screen Time features with your permission. You pick apps and websites in Apple’s private picker. Apple gives Kaado opaque tokens, not the names of the apps or sites. The tokens and your earned minutes are stored on your iPhone, shared only with Kaado’s own Screen Time extension, and never uploaded. Apple measures usage on your device; we don’t receive it. You can stop blocking at any time in the app, or turn off the permission in iPhone Settings.

6. Other data

  • Pronunciation: words are spoken with your device’s or browser’s built-in Japanese voice. If your browser’s voice is an online one, its provider processes the word being spoken.
  • Support: if you email us, we receive what you send.
  • Service operation: our hosting provider processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the service. To stop abuse, some requests are rate-limited using a one-way hash of your IP address or account. Our server logs errors to keep the service running.
  • This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

7. Service providers

We share data only with providers that run Kaado for us, and only what they need: Supabase (accounts, synced progress, leaderboard and invites), Vercel (hosting), Apple (App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple and Screen Time), RevenueCat (subscription status), Stripe (Chrome payments) and Google (Google sign-in and Google Play, where offered). These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We don’t sell personal data or share it for advertising.

8. Keeping and deleting data

We keep account data until you delete your account. Leaderboard scores stay until you leave the board or delete your account. You can delete your account in the iPhone app; see how to delete your account for exactly what is removed. Apple, Google, Stripe and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records under their own policies; deleting your Kaado account doesn’t delete those or cancel a subscription.

No way of storing or sending data is perfectly secure. Your synced progress can be read only by you, while signed in, and by our server. Changes to it, and the leaderboard, invite and phone-link records, go only through our server, which checks your sign-in on every request.

9. Your choices

  • Use Kaado without an account, or sign out to stop syncing.
  • Export your Chrome progress from the extension’s settings at any time.
  • Leave the leaderboard at any time.
  • Delete your account in the iPhone app (how).
  • For any other question or request about your data, contact alex@rentahuman.ai.
